Media briefed on Preservation of Existing Villages under KNC Master Plan
During a widely attended press conference on November 29th, 2011, the CEO of Dehsabz - Barikab City Development Authority (DCDA) and Program Director of Kabul Metropolitan Development, JICA presented a joint briefing to the media on “Preservation on Existing Villages under the Kabul New City Master Plan.” The conference mainly aimed at informing the public about the development sub-projects in the villages existing in Dehsabz and Barikab. In his opening remarks DCDA’s CEO Eng. Gholam Sachi Hassanzadah said that Preservation of 54 villages in Dehsabz and Barikab is one of the five programs of Phase One in implementation of the New Kabul City Master Plan. He further added that these projects are implemented in the existing 26 villages in Dehsabz. These projects include expansion schools through expansion of existing classrooms, conducting literacy courses, construction of roads, and rehabilitation of existing health clinics, cleaning of existing Kariz & springs and construction of new water wells for the community. As the Phase 1 implementation of Kabul New City Master Plan has begun in Dehsabz south, these projects are currently implemented in Bakhteyaran, Khwaja Chasht, Shah Mohammad, Yaka Darakht, Shorab, Sang Aab, Baba Qashqaar, Aab Dara, Dehsabz Khas, Kata Khel, Ali Khel and Nawa. Eng. Ghulam Sachi Hassanzadah, thanked the friendly country of Japan for their active role in planning and implementation of Kabul New City in several phases, he also added that implementation of these project will begin economic activities, create job opportunities and reduces poverty. “I am confident that implementation of these projects will bring positive changes in life style of villagers in the coming years. Agriculture products would satisfy the demand in the villages as a result they can access Kabul markets. Greenery in the villages will add to the green belt development and local identity of the new city”. Mr. Toshiyuki Iwama, Project Leader Kabul Metropolitan Area, JICA said that the projects’ cost around 4 Million US Dollars and would be completed till 2013. These projects are implemented by the Dehsabz - Barikab City development Authority (DCDA) in cooperation with Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) through private companies and other non-governmental organizations.
